Hans Uszkoreit is Professor of Computational Linguistics and–by cooptation–Computer Science at Saarland Univ. and Scientific Director at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI), heading the DFKI Language Technology Lab in Berlin. One of his current interests is web platforms for large-scale collective decision processes.

U. is Honorary Professor at Technische Univ. Berlin, Member of the European Academy of Sciences, Past President of the European Association for Logic, Language & Information, and member of international editorial & advisory boards. He is a co-founder of XtraMind GmbH, Saarbruecken (now part of Attensity Inc. Palo Alto, Ca.), Acrolinx GmbH, Berlin & San José and Yocoy GmbH, Berlin. From 2005-2011, he chaired the Board of Directors of the international initiative Dropping Knowledge. He has more than 150 publications in language technology, computational linguistics and artificial intelligence.
